TASB's Online Learning Center (OLC) is open to school board
members and faculty as well as
the general public. The OLC
hosts a variety of professional development courses designed to
aid public school boards in their governance, oversight, and
The law firm of Walsh, Anderson, Gallegos, Green, and Treviño, P.C. has partnered with TASB to create Board Governance & Politics. This course explores the role of a trustee, the legal structure of school boards, how to handle issues that arise in board work, and offers some tips to develop good governance strategies. To best fit trustees' schedules, the course can be completed in approximately 10-minute segments.
The TASB Board of Directors, in recognition of the school funding crisis, unanimously approved the use of the Association's fund balance to waive fees to key TASB training events in the 2012-2013 school year for board members and administrators from TASB active-member entities.
This waiver applies to courses in the OLC. Though fees will be waived, registration is still necessary through opening an account in the OLC. These accounts do not have fees.
